‘Building Communities’ screening at Devonport Live!!
Devonport Community First Partnership is proud to be screening James Ellwood of Fotonow CIC film ‘Building Communities’ on January 29th at Devonport Live Café and Venue, in George Street.
Plymouth City Council and Plymouth Housing Development Partnership were co-commissioned to make the film, to celebrate 100 years of the Three Towns and in response to the film, the ‘Way We Live’ of 1946.
Building Communities is a twenty two minute interview-led documentary, directed by James Ellwood and produced by Fotonow.
James Ellwood enjoyed the experience of making the film, "There were two distinct things that I particularly enjoyed in this project. Firstly the opportunity given by the scope of the film to really conduct an extensive period of research into the topic, and secondly the many interviews that I conducted for the film.”
He also explained, "I always enjoy interviewing people for my projects, but this one was particularly wide ranging in the people I spoke to. Just to have an opportunity to ask people’s opinions, to challenge them, is a fascinating process.
I'm really looking forward to the screening at Devonport Live. Devonport has undergone so much change in recent years so it feels really relevant to be screening this film in a vibrant new community space."
There will be two screenings in the evening, the first one being shown at 5pm and the second at 6pm. The Devonport Live Café will be open with food and drink served from 4:30pm.
